This is my sitting area; a quiet spot and the first room upon entry to my home. I wanted something contemporary, relaxing and not-at-all formal and stuffy. Unequivocally, I chose to stay away from the "look but don't touch room". The inspiration for this room came from those two prints over the sofa. They are lively pieces and eye-catching. I chose the dominating turquoise color for accents as it brings this neutral room to the forefront. It's the perfect color for sprinkling.

ORANGE IS MY FAVE - My Family Room

This is my family room where we frequently watch movies, play rockband or board games - aka the gathering room. Two years in the making, the space is finally completed. I used orange not only because it's my favorite color but also because it's a happy color. Orange is a color that stimiulates conversation, adds warmth and creates energy and is therefore perfect for this area of the house. Further, the contrast of the light walls and dark floor and sofa makes a nice statement. As you pander the room take note of the layers and texture creating visual interest. I enjoyed putting this room together and love how it turned out.

My First Blog & Post

Let me say it again "MY FIRST BLOG & POST". I am so excited because I have created my own personal space to talk about being an Interior Design student and to showcase my projects. My work area above is where my magic happens: space planning, drafting, concept sketching, rendering (grown-up coloring), finish selections, product research or inspiration browsing.

The title of my blog "LOVE AFFAIR WITH COLOR" is a fragmented explanation of my deep love for color. I'm here to tell you that color is your friend. I have found that people are unsure about how to incorporate colors in their personal spaces. I have also seen colors used in some unusual ways not pleasing to the eye. As I continue on my blog-a-thon, I will show you how to use color, where to look for color inspiration and not be afraid of color.

I'm just a girl who has finally decided to pursue (passionately) her love of interior design. I am a 40 year old mom of three wonderful kids, wife of a very supportive husband and a career changer. I recently parted with the insurance industry to focus my attention on becoming an interior designer. Although it's been fun and challenging, deciding to go back to school was/is the most rewarding triumph of my life. I love every minute of it......

Firstly, after leaving my cushy (being sarcastic) insurance job, I felt I needed to connect with people in the design industry. Thus far, I have met some really amazing, encouraging people.
